Councillor Vacancy for Co-option

The Casual vacancy for the Pondtail Ward in Fleet has previously been advertised for 14 days. Fleet Town Council has been informed by the Elections Office at Hart District Council that 10 registered electors from the Pondtail Ward did not come forward and request a by-election.

As a result, Fleet Town Council now has the power to co-opt a Councillor to fill the vacancy.

Applications will be assessed against the Council’s Co-option policy and candidates are required to make a short presentation to the Council on their range of skills, community involvement and how they will be beneficial in their role as Town Councillor.

NOTICE OF A CASUAL VACANCY FOR A PARISH COUNCILLOR
Under section 87(2) of the 1972 Local Government Act.

1. There is a vacancy on the above Council for the Pondtail Ward due to the
resignation of Councillor Declan James.

2. A by-election to fill the vacancy will be held if ten registered Electors from the Ward of Pondtail in the Town of Fleet give notice in writing requesting such an Election to the Proper Officer within 14 working days of this notice.

3. The address of The Proper Officer is D Phillips, Hart District Council, Civic Offices, Harlington Way, Fleet, Hampshire, GU51 4AE.
